After having lived between the United States and Sydney for many years he finally settled into NY in 2000 attending the Atlantic Theater Company's Conservative Acting program. He first trained at the Australian Theater for Young People from1998-1999. When Stevenson finally found himself moving to New York in 2000, with two hundred and seven dollars he always knew it was going to be a struggle. After one day he woke up with no money, he quickly found himself with six tickets to the Mets versus the Philly's. The Met's won 3-2 that day and Nick knew he was in the right town. He graduated from The Atlantic Theater Company's Conservative Acting School in 2002. Since then, he has performed in many productions all around the country and upstate in his Summer stock days. Some of his favorites include Balm in Gilead, Careless Love, He Died with a Falafel in His Hand, The Boys, Bed and Mercy Thieves and How The Other Half Loves by Alan Ayckbourn to name a few. Stevenson is looking forward to the release of two independent features 'Isn't it Delicious' starring Kathleen Chalfant, Keir Dullea and Alice Ripley. Set for release in the summer of 2013 also the new Sci Fi flick, Underground with Corin Nemec and Rebecca Blumhagen, playing one of the title leads, Dr Cooper which also set for release in 2013. Nick has appeared alongside Jim Caviezel in the CBS Drama Person of Interest, enjoyed a cameo role on Girls Guide To Depravity Season 2 as Stan Bogart and thus far has a recurring role in the new Television series Orange Is The Black with Jason Biggs, Kate Mulgrew, Laura Prepon and Taylor Shilling written and produced by Jenji Kohan from Weeds. The first season airs July 11th on Netflix. At the end of 2009, he created and produced a very successful Short Film Festival in Brooklyn called Station Shorts. In 2007, for his love of Theater Stevenson traveled to Greece with the One Year Lease Troupe and performed in Widows and Reader by Ariel Dorfman. Reader was also performed at The New York Fringe Festival and received praising reviews. In 2006, Nick co-founded The Outhouse Theatre Company with long time pal Jeremy Waters, who also call's Australia his home. The company, based in New York, is dedicated to the cultivation and development of both emerging and established Australian theater artists. The company had a good start with the premiere of The Boys by Gordon Graham directed by the wonderfully talented Craig Baldwin and since then, has enjoyed a successful run of Mercy Thieves and Ride by Jane Bodie at the 59 East 59th Street Theatre. Stevenson and Waters are always sourcing material for the company's next projects. Nick's voice can be heard on many famous ad campaigns such as commercials for Gillette, Energizer Batteries, British Airways, The Sydney Morning Herald, Drunk Driving Ad Campaigns, Louis Vuitton, McDonald's and The Weinstein Company, among others. Stevenson, currently resides in New York with his wife. He is continuously writing and directing his own projects. You used to be able to find him performing at The Comic Strip NYC, Broadway Comedy Club, Gotham Comedy Club and various clubs around NYC but these days he's writing screenplays, working on Film or Television. He misses his stand up days and vows to return with bigger and better material. He says it flexes his brain and he enjoys the challenge. Nick has worked with many wonderful actors, Comedians and Directors. Nick has worked with Jerry Seinfeld, Peter O'Brien, Kathleen Chalfant, Jason Biggs, Taylor Shilling, Maria Dizzia, Alice Ripley and Keir Dullea to name a few. He's a big fan of past Directors he's worked with, Christine jeffs, Michael Kelly and Christian Charles. At this very moment, Stevenson is working on three screenplays, Greyhound, Tupelo Elvis and Great Southern Men. He is also nailing down the final details for a television series he'd like to produce and act in called The Bradmans. In between gigs he is working feverishly with his buddy to put together a documentary on his recent motorcycle trip down to Tupelo, MS. About an actors journey and how important Film Festivals are to Independent Film Makers. One of Nick's film's Isn't It Delicious which he acted in will be screening at The Manhattan Film Festival June 23rd and 25th. It has been winning a few award s and we all cross our fingers it get's it's day for commercial release. Nick is also eagerly awaiting the premiere of Orange Is The New Black for July 11th in which he has a recurring role as Pete Harper and his baby... due in November.
Nick Stevenson was an artist before he decided to completely devote his attentions toward acting. He originally wanted to pursue cinematography, art and acting. He figured if he focused on acting he could one day paint his own cinematic picture.
The story of the first moon landing in the summer of 1969 from two interwoven perspectives.
